Fire Ball and Missing Time in Vineland New Jersey
It was August 1968 near the end of the summer and my brother Andre 9 years old, our friend Ronnie 9 years old, and myself 8, were sitting at Cunningham Elementary school in Vineland, New Jersey.
My brother Andre and I were sitting on the bike rack and Ronnie was standing facing us, I don’t remember what we were talking about, suddenly Ronnie yells out “LOOK” pointing over the back part of the school’s lunchroom area. We all saw a giant ball of fire, it looked like a comet but it was too close, we could see flames licking off the whole thing and a smoke trail as it passed by, we lost sight of it as it passed the main part of the school.
We ran about 40 to 50 feet to East ave but didn’t see it anymore, that was at 6:30 pm in the evening. We all ran to Ronnie’s house just behind the school and begged his mother to drive us up and down Landis Ave. (the main street in Vineland) we were only out for about 20 to 30 minutes I asked Ronnie’s mom what time it was and she said 8:45 pm.
We all looked at each other, then said to Ronnie’s mom, “Your watch must be fast.” She stated, “no, you guys have been at the school for about 2 hours.” We all said we were only there for about ten minutes before we came here (Ronnie’s house). We told her what we saw but she never believed us.
In 1985 I was talking to an old friend who is about 8 years older than me about the incident and he told me he saw the same thing back in 1968. What was also strange to me is that it did feel later in the evening and was darker right after we ran to see if we could catch sight of the fireball again.
I saw a show on the History channel about the Keksburg UFO in Pennsylvania but that supposedly happened in 1965.
